What we are

Cedar Valley Friends of the Family (CVFF) is a private, non-profit victim advocacy agency serving Bremer, Butler, and Chickasaw counties. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, the agency began providing services in August of 1992. A group of hard working community volunteers established the agency though the local Church Women United group. Today CVFF continues to depend on a strong base of committed volunteers who are willing to become trained to assist the agency in providing 24-hour crisis and emergency services. These individualized, confidential services are available free of charge to all persons who are victims of domestic abuse or sexual assault.

Cedar Valley Friends of the Family provides free and confidential services for persons affected by Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. Fundraising Cedar Valley Friends of the Family has experienced nearly a 450% increase in Nights of Shelter provided over the past three years (2003-2006). Over the past 5 years (2001-2006), the agency has seen a 12% decline in state and federal funding.

Of the 13 competive grants CVFF seeks, eight require cash matches totally more than $80,000 annually. For these reasons, the agency has begun to develop ways to decrease our dependence upon government funding, and increase our self-sufficiency.   Events Details
