What we provide

The Turning Point Project provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity for homeless households in rural Northeast Iowa. The phrase "Opening Doors to the Future" is descriptive of the opportunity that the project offers participants. For eligible participants, these may include:

  • Assistance with locating suitable housing.
  • Payment of a portion of monthly rent.
  • Skills assessment leading to further education and job training.
  • Payment of child care.
  • Assistance with transportation cost.
  • Mental health or substance abuse counseling.
  • Basic life skills training.
  • Mentoring and encouragement by community volunteers.
The end result is that the homeless family will become permanently housed and be able to live in a self-sufficient manner.
