How Do You Break Up Safely?
  1. Tell your friends, family, teacher or counselor What, When, and Where you plan to do this.
  2. DO break up in a public place like a mall or restaurant where you can get help, or at home when your parents are there.
  3. NEVER go to a lonely or out of the way place like an empty park, or take a ride in a car to a favorite parking place.
  4. STAY AWAY from dark or lonely areas like streets, parks, or parking lots. Try to be with friends as much as possible.
  5. BE CLEAR about breaking up - - don't give mixed signals.
  6. RECOGNIZE when someone is just trying to change your mind - - what we call "manipulative behavior" - - tears, threats of suicide, guilt trips.
  7. CHANGE YOUR LOCKS if you have your own place - - you can never be sure you have all the keys.
